The award ceremony will take place in Dublin, Ballsbridge Hotel on April 19th Teaching and learning development initiatives shortlisted as a finalist under two categories: Finalist Student Engagement and Communications Award GMIT offer a range of Student Engagement opportunities with a focus on building a student-centred learning environment. From first year to final year, students engage with: a welcome programme; a first year skills module; a student led learning PASS programme; career clinics; a community engagement module; Step Forward class leader training; an employability toolkit; and wellness initiatives. Finalist Best Student Experience Award GMIT provide a range of learning and teaching development initiatives with a focus on building a student-centred learning environment. From first year to final year, students experience a sense of belonging and gain an opportunity to develop: learning and innovation skills; peer learning leadership skills; community collaboration skills; and an entrepreneurial spirit.

3/26/2018 0 Comments Student Led Learning (SLL) National Seminar, DIGITAL IDENTITY & ENHANCING STUDENT ENGAGEMENTOn April 26th GMIT will host the national Student Led Learning (SLL) Seminar on Digital Identity and Enhancing Student Engagement. This special event will focus on Digital Identity and Student Engagement. The keynote will be Eric Stoller (see http://ericstoller.com/work). With a background in student affairs, academic advising, wellness, technology, and communications, Eric focuses his energies on educating clients and captivating audiences. As the Student Affairs and Technology blogger for Inside Higher Ed UK, he generates conversations, answers questions, and provides insight about a variety of tech topics. The SLL national seminar will also showcase: the work of the national NStEP programme on developing student engagement in Higher Education Institutes in Ireland; a Digital Citizenship programme from DkIT; Perspectives on Student Engagement from the USI; a Further Education Case Study on Student Engagement; and the national Student Led Learning (SLL) resources available to HEI's. 3/26/2018 0 Comments Two GMIT Finalists, National DELTA Awards, Recognising Excellence in Teaching & LearningCongratulations to GMIT colleagues for receiving a National DELTA Award and Certificate of Achievement. The DELTA Awards (Disciplinary Excellence in Learning Teaching and Assessment) was hosted by the National Forum on Wednesday 21 March 2018 in the Mansion House in Dublin, to celebrate discipline groups within institutions who demonstrate sustained achievements in teaching and learning enhancement. The DELTA Awards form an integral part of the overall National Learning Impact Awards designed to enhance, showcase and strengthen teaching excellence in higher education by recognising the value of teaching at a national level. Mary Mitchell O’Connor, T.D., Minister of Higher Education addresses the guests at the event. The DELTA Awards was an evening of celebration for the finalists, who are all leading the way with successful and ambitious approaches to change in teaching and learning within their disciplines.
